Faced with the great problems of electricity generation that lived Colombia in the early nineties, the state published in 1992 and 1994 decrees and laws allowing private sector participation in power generation by the figure of independent generators, became the generation and marketing in competitive activities and spread their marketing activities and business generation transport networks. From this marketing could be exercised separately or jointly with the generation and distribution. The result of this, in 1995 formalized the division of the ISA Society, becoming ISAGEN as a company dedicated to the production and marketing of energy. In 1996 construction began Termocentro Plant began commercial operation in 1997. In 1997 construction began on the project Honey I.In 1999 he obtained the ISO 9001 certification by the ICONTEC, their processes of generation and energy trading, becoming the first company in the country’s power industry to receive this distinction. In late 2000 took over as general manager engineer Luis Fernando Pinzon Rico. In 2002 came into operation Honey I. In 2006 he recovered and reactivated the service of Central Boiler, construction began Guarin Project and the Project began Amoy . In the same year the National Association of Public Service Docimiliarios (ANDESCO) awarded first place ISAGEN corporate responsibility for Best Large Utility Company Residential and honorable mention for Best Environmental Performance. In 2007 the company offered to Colombians on 19.22 of shares and thanks to this ISAGEN has 71,809 new shareholders.
